ChatGPT (with some prompting by me) created a nice summary of various GenAI tools, strategies for working with them, and provided sample prompts for each tool. The second document illustrates the connection between prompts and results, providing examples of some of my efforts. The third document is the transcript of a conversation with ChatGPT, discussing technical details of GenAI LLMs, DeepSeek, and analysis/comparison of typical GenAI LLMs and DeepSeek using David Marr's 3-levels of analysis. |

A Google search for "genai" will provide you with lots of hits. Some useful, some not so useful. Here are two I find useful. |

I spend a fair amount of time chatting with ChatGPT. Yep. A retired old guy, sitting by my window, watching birds at the feeder, and chatting with ChatGPT. Until at least 10:00 every morning. "Our" conversations revolve around anything that comes to mind. For example, everything one needs to know about the three Napoleans (yep. there were three), a lot about Stoicism, a number of the Greek philosophers, book summaries, and I ask ChatGPT to help me with video scripts, course planning, digesting practical tips from various authors. In any case, my prompts may not be the most efficient nor effective but the results often blow me away. (I often have follow-questions or requests within a single conversation.) The links, above, should help you down the rabbit hole of "prompt engineering."! Feel free to send along thoughts, questions, suggestions (rwb@esdi.us or brown123@alumni.umn.edu). ChatGPT is my preferred chatbot tool. I have not actually experimented with the other chatbot or text-based tools that are available (e.g., Claude, Gemini, Copilot; as part of a project focused on helping patients in therapy, I did spend some time examining the "AI companion" tools - AMAZING stuff!). About a year or so ago, I simply began using ChatGPT and now have a multitude of conversations stored within (I purchased the monthly licesnse). In any case, I love my "relationship" with ChatGPT. I often feel like I have a really smart graduate assistant available to accomplish so many tasks, answer questions, provide resources, etc. Everything a great colleague (or graduate assistant) does! Below are a few screenshots of the headings of the way too many conversations I've had in the past couple of months. |
