This module is intended to define the concept "knowledge" in a pragmatic
manner that supports or facilitates our understanding of (a) how we think, and
(b) how we can use the scientific method to help us know more about
the world around us.
Module Objectives:
- Define “knowledge,” including the two elements of any knowledge
system
- Able to categorize concepts as elements of natural or man-made knowledge
systems
- Able to list essential characteristics of both natural and man-made knowledge
systems
- List the three types of research
- List the two critical dimensions distinguishing the three types of research
from one another
- Categorize the three types of research along the two critical dimensions.
- Apply the nomenclature of the constitution of "knowledge" to personally
relevant bodies of knowledge
